Production Control Plan for Cybersecurity in Vehicle Manufacturing

During this video course, you will learn about a major product required by ISO/SAE 21434 for modern vehicle production: the production control plan. Throughout this video course you will gain an understanding of the production phase, the role of the production control plan and what its required contents are to maintain cybersecurity during production.

Demands across the automotive industry to ensure cybersecurity throughout the entire product lifecycle including development and post-development stages are unavoidably increasing, and so are new challenges. Consequently, cybersecurity is changing how modern vehicles should be manufactured. In fact, the ISO/SAE 21434:2021 dedicates the entire Clause 12 to the production stage and requires a Production Control Plan as work product. This 15 minute video course will provide you with the necessary context and guidance for the creation of this major work product.

First, you will get familiar with the concepts of production phase and goods in the context of the automotive industry and in general. Moreover, we will briefly highlight where production takes place in the vehicle product lifecycle and. Here, we will also explain what the Release for Post Development is as an important pre-requirement to start production.

Next, you will get an overview of the different roles OEMs and suppliers play in the production process and gain an understanding of the distributed process (see also distributed development) for vehicle manufacturing.
